We do get a number of questions from people getting warning messages about their trailer wiring when towing with newer Ford trucks. It's normally because the truck senses the trailer like it's supposed to but the trailer has LED lights which draw less power than incandescent lights and therefore the truck thinks there's a problem because of the lower power draw. Basically the truck thinks a light is out even though it isn't.
The trailer hitch cover, part # CR-007, is an incandescent light so you likely won't have an issue. If you do, the solution is to install load resistors, like part # DI34ZR, which build resistance causing the truck to believe the lights draw more power than they do.
It's possible you could have other issues too because some of those same Fords have tow settings that kick in when it senses a trailer, and you may experience this even though you aren't towing.
