Replacement 50 Amp RV Power Cord

Question:

Greetings, I have purchased several of your products in the past, i.e. brake controller, stabilizer hitch, etc.. You have always been a great help with my silly questions when trying to make a decision. I think I may need to purchase a 50 amp power cord for my rv. I see where there are two listed that I believe will fit my 2016 Forest Rivers Flagstaff 35 ft. classic lite travel trailer. My current power cord has two leds on the connection to the power source and one led light on the connection to the rv. After a storm awhile back, when I have it on 50 amp power source, no power is getting to any of my 110 outlets. I have determined that no breakers have blown. I did notice the right blue led light on the connection to the power source is not lit when I connect to the 50 amp power source and the led to the connection to the rv is also not lit. Everything but what runs on 110 volts works. I hooked up my 30 amp adapter to my 50 amp cord and everything works, except since it is 30 amp, I cannot run everything all at once like with the 50 amp. I do notice now that the left blue led light is not on at the power source, but the led light at the rv connection is on. All this babbling explanation is now leading up to my question. Either the power source has an issue or my 50 amp cord. I think I will go ahead and purchase one from you but want to find out which is better, Mighty Cord or Epicord. I want the best quality of these two or any others you might recommend. I hope you read my explanation and offer advise as to whether you think it is the power source or the cord that is causing me issues. My travel trailer is a 2016 model and is two years old. See below for the cords I am talking about. Thanks.. Mighty Cord 90-Degree Detachable RV Power Cord w/ Locking Ring and LED - 50 Amps - 25foot - A10-5025ED90 Epicord RV Power Cord with Handle - 50 Amp Male to Twist Lock Female Connector - 25foot Long - 277-000151

It's hard to say whether the issue is with your cord or power source. The source could be tested but I recommend having a professional do this. On the other hand buying a new cord to test is likely less expensive and easier. If I had to guess I'd lean towards the cord being the issue since it works with the 30 amp adapter on it.

As for which cord you really can't go wrong with either. Both the Mighty Cord part # A10-5025ED, and Mighty Cord, part # A10-5025ED90, are good products and function the same way. You might favor the Mighty Cord since it has an LED feature on the female end like you're used to having.
