Tire Recommendation for a 2008 Keystone 32 Travel Trailer

Question:

We purchased a 2008 32-foot Keystone travel trailer last fall. The tires 225/75/15, Load Range D appeared to be in good shape but the date codes are 2012. While acknowledging that we need to replace the tires, I havent been too concerned as the trip from the storage shed to campground is less than 10 miles. But were getting ready to take a longer trip so I want to replace the tires and need a recommendation. Considering that the majority of our trips are going to be 50 miles or less with occasional longer trips, Im thinking I dont need a top-of-the line tire, but still want a quality tire. The trailer weighs around 7,500 to 8,000 lbs rolling down the road. Ive been advised to upgrade to a Load Range E tires and new wheels. I was looking at Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range E # LHAW124 and Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Tire with 15inch White Spoke Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2inch - Load Range E Code AM32680. Am I on the right track or should I be looking at something else in this price range if possible. Thanks in advance.

Helpful Expert Reply:

Both the Westlake # LHAW124 and the Kenda Karrier # AM32680 are excellent options and I wouldn't have a problem recommending either tire/wheel combo.

In comparison they are both very similar with the same Load Range E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi). The Westlake has a 75 mph speed rating and the Kenda has a great 81 mph speed rating. They have the same weight ratings. The Karrier has the been out much longer which is why it has over 3,500 customer reviews that give it nearly 5 stars across the board. Going this route you know that many people can't be wrong.

The Westlake also has a nearly 5-star rating but with a smaller amount of customer reviews. They both have excellent warranties.

I have linked review videos for you to reference for both tires as well.
