Does Use of Cargo Carrier Reduce Trailer Hitch Capacity
Question:
I understand the 50 reduction of a hitchs tongue weight capacity if a hitch extender is used, but does a cargo carrier specifically, C18113 count as a hitch extenderinch if it fits right into the hitch itself i.e. without a product like C45795? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
Cargo carriers like the Curt carrier part # C18113 attached directly to a trailer hitch without the use of an extender like the part # C45795 do not cut the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.
If this carrier was installed in your hitch directly, you'd get the full capacity of the trailer hitch.
