Wire Recommendation to Complete Brake Controller Wiring on Truck Where it's Not Ran
Question:
After installing a new Tekonsha brake controller via a Reece OEM wiring harness I have no connection when the trailer is connected. After tracing some wires I came to find out that the blue brake controller wire from the factory install 7 pin plug a the hitch terminated and is not connected to anything on the opposite side. I can see from inside the vehicle where the brake controller wire enters the engine bay at the firewall but cannot find it on the other side. How and/or where can I attach the wire coming from the 7 pin to complete the circuit? Thanks

Expert Reply:
I'd just run a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 from the 7-way wiring for the brake output circuit (5:00 pin) to the blue wire of the brake controller wiring to bypass the factory wiring of the truck. It can be difficult tracing factory wiring so running a dedicated wire will make this easier.
