Recommended Replacement Tires for Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2016 42 foot toy hauler 5th wheel trailer with less than 10,000 miles on it. The original manufacturer tires are Provider ST235/80RS16 which I have faithfully kept properly inflated and TPMS monitored. The tread and sidewall look like new, but today I discovered 2 tires have bulges on the inner sidewalls which means I need to replace them ASAP. So my question is since Provider is apparently one of the better brands, should I consider moving to a higher rated tire? If so, what do you recommend? Also, I had a bad experience with an F rated tire blowing on my old toy hauler and quite frankly, higher PSIs can result in greater damage in blowouts which, obviously, I want to avoid as much as possible. But, Im worried an E rated tire is at its upper limits of my GVW of 15,500 lbs. Thank you.

The most important thing you mentioned there is that your fifth wheel has a GVWR of 15,500 lbs and you are going to need a tire that has a load rating that can match or surpass that.

The ST235/80R16 I recommend for you is the Provider # PRG80235, which has a load range of G and a capacity of 4,080 lbs when inflated to the maximum psi of 110. While your concern about a higher psi leading to more damage in case of a blowout is understandable, you are much less likely to suffer that if you have a tire that is rated for the proper amount of weight. Since you keep the tires monitored and inflated appropriately you should have no issues with these tires giving you any type of problems or blowing our prematurely.
