Using Spacers to Install CURT Trailer Hitch # E-3S on a Step Bumper
Question:
The ball sleeve that goes through the bumper protrudes below the step-bumper about 1/8 and interferes with full surface hitch to underside of bumper contact. Is this a problem?

Expert Reply:
The CURT Step Bumper Trailer Hitch, # E-3S, comes with some square spacers, part 5 in the instructions linked for you, just in case the bumper does have that protrusion on the underside of the bumper. These spacers are 1/4 inches thick. If you are using these and still have 1/8 of a gap, a slightly thicker spacer can be used as long as you make sure to tighten the bolts as specified in the instructions.
