Recommendation to Reduce Rear Sag on 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler When Towing Trailer

Question:

Thanks for responding. My loaded tongue weight plus the weight in my jeep cargo area is roughly 350lbs. The actual TW on my trailer is listed at 296 lbs. Thanks for your help!

The Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops # TABSJRJK referenced in your question are confirmed to fit your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited. These are designed to replace the factory bump stops on your Jeep and will provide a stronger unit that will do a better job of supporting the rear suspension and absorbing energy and cushioning road shock. These should definitely help a bit with the rear sag on your Jeep when hooking up to a trailer, but it's not your best option.

When rear sag on a vehicle is the result of a trailer's tongue weight (and not from cargo loaded into the vehicle itself) the best and most effective solution is a weight distribution system. A weight distribution system will evenly distribute weight over the axles of the trailer and tow vehicle so that everything remains level.

I have attached a great FAQ on weight distribution systems that you can check out.

In order to pick out the correct system, you will want to determine your total tongue weight. This number includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer (as if loaded and ready for a trip), along with any additional cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Jeep. Ideally, this number will fall somewhere near the middle of the operating range for the system you choose. Using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044 is the most accurate method for determining your trailer's loaded tongue weight.

If you can tell me the loaded tongue weight of your trailer, I will be happy to recommend a great weight distribution system for your setup.

For the estimated 350 pound total tongue weight you mentioned, I recommend taking a look at the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System # FA92-00-0600. This system will do a great job of evenly distributing weight over the axles of your tow vehicle and trailer to create a level ride and eliminate that rear sag. It features a tongue weight capacity of 250 to 600 pounds and uses integrated 2-point sway control to also limit any side-to-side movement with your trailer. The only thing you would need to add is a compatible hitch ball like the 2 inch # EQ91-00-6080 or the 2-5/16 inch # EQ91-00-6100. I have attached a short video demonstration on this system so you can get a closer look at how it installs and operates.
