Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited That Has Factory Standard Bumper
Question:
I have 2016 Jeep Wrangler with standard front bumper. I want to flat tow. Purchased used Falcon 2 tow bar shaped like a ‘Y’. It does not have a cross bar on the end as I have seen in various pics. What do I need to get vehicles hooked together.

Safe and legal flat towing of a vehicle such as your 2016 Wrangler Unlimited requires a number of components including a tow bar such as the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520. If your tow bar is missing the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly we do offer it, part # 910021-00. The items needed to flat tow are outlined in the linked article on the basics of flat towing. Several additional articles on specific flat towing items are included for you as well.
For base plates I suggest the Roadmaster EZ5 kit, part # RM-521448-5, since it is directly compatible with your Flacon 2 tow bar. These base plates fit with your standard factory bumper (with no winches or guards) so long as it is NOT a Backcountry, Hard Rock, or 75th Anniversary model. An install video is linked, showing your same vehicle model and year. For safety cables use kit # RM-643.
You'll need a lighting/wiring solution of some kind too, such as hard-wire diode kit # RM-15267 or simple-install magnetic light kit # TL21RK. The included article will help you decide which you prefer, but the cost-effective magnetic type are certainly convenient.
The supplemental braking system I recommend is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR which you will use along with 12V Outlet Kit # RM-9332. This systems offers quite a mix of advantages: it can follow you into your next towed vehicle since it is fully-portable; it does not require an invasive installation since it features wireless operation; and it will provide proportional braking of the Jeep at the same rate the tow vehicle decelerates.
Finally you will probably need a high/low hitch adapter like # RM-076 to keep the connected tow bar level for best operation without binding when you make turns.
