Best Fifth Wheel HItch Recommendation for 2018 Ford F-250 Short Bed with Factory Rail Kit

Question:

I recently purchased a 2018 F250 SRW 4x4 diesel with a standard bed. Ive been towing heavy loads my entire life with bumper pull trailers, but Im new to 5th wheel towing. Is a sliding hitch absolutely necessary? Im hoping to be able to use something like the puck system so that I can have a flat bed when the hitch isnt locked in. I see that sliding hitches are the only things that come up on your site when I input my truck, so I just wanted clarification. What hitch would you recommend that will still offer a flat or near flat bed?

For truck beds shorter than 8 feet you'll need a slider hitch in nearly all circumstances but if you happen to be towing a trailer that has a Reese Revolution or Sidewinder pin box you can use a fixed hitch. Or if the trailer has a tapered nose designed for short bed turning clearance that is another option. I attached a help article on Sidewinders for you to check out as well.

It sounds like you have the factory rail kit in your 2018 Ford F-250 so for a slider hitch the B and W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3370 will fit it directly and give you the nicest slider hitch on the market.

If you can get by with a fixed hitch the fixed Companion part # BWRVK3300 would fit and work well. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.
