Will Dutton-Lainson Angle Winch Mounting Plate Fit a 3x4 Inch Frame and a 4,000 Pound Boat
Question:
Will the u-clamp fit a 3x4 post? What is the weight rating for this plate? I have a 2 ton boat that my winch will be pullingsliding onto the trailer.

I went out to the warehouse to measure the Dutton-Lainson Angle Mounting Plate, # DL24059. The internal width of the U-bolt is 3-1/6 inches. The length is 5 inches. As long as the post is 3 inches wide by 4 inches deep, it will fit.
I also spoke with my contact at Dutton-Lainson to get the capacity of the plate. While it does not have an official weight capacity, it is designed for the StrongArm series of electric winches. The highest capacity of a StrongArm winch is 4,500 pounds, so it should work for a 2 ton (4,000) pound boat.
