Recommended 4-Bike Rack to Transport Cruisers on 2017 Subaru Forester
Question:
My family and I would like a 4 bike rack for our 2017 Subaru. 2 of our bikes are Cruiser bikes that weigh 41 lbs. and 43 lbs. We have yet to buy the other 2 bikes but will probably purchase the same type of bikes weighing the same. What bike rack would be best for the weight of our bikes and vehicle? Thank you.

For your Cruiser bikes, which tend to be heavier and have a more alternative style frame, I suggest going with a platform bike rack.
I highly recommend the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Platform Rack # Y02443-2, which can handle 4 bikes of up to 50 pounds each. It features ratcheting, padded hooks that will grip the bikes by their tires and sliding wheel trays to accommodate bikes of different sizes. The rack can fold up against the vehicle when not in use or tilt away for easy rear cargo access on your Forester. It is compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers. A hitch lock is included to secure the rack to your vehicle, and it also includes a cable lock to secure the bikes to the rack.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this rack so you can get a closer look at all of its features.
If you don't yet have a trailer hitch installed, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 75876. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your Subaru Forester and will use existing holes in its frame for a no-drill installation. It will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening that will work perfectly with the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack.
I have attached an installation video on your vehicle that you can use for reference.
