Hitch Reducer Sleeve to Drop Receiver Opening from 2-Inch to 1-1/4-Inch Size for Bike Rack
Question:
I have an older Thule hitch-mount bike rack 1998?. It has a 1 1/4 inch stinger, and my 2015 Xterra has a 2 inch hitch. Cannot find a model number anywhere on the rack, and the packaging is long gone. Advice on next steps? Newer racks Ive looked are receive horrible reviews online, so I am looking to get more use out of this one. Thanks.

No worries! I can offer you a solution that will be simple, non-permanent and effective.
Since your hitch is a 2-inch Class III type you can use a hitch reducer # HT02 to convert your hitch opening down to the 1-1/4-inch size needed for your older bike rack. Since you like your trusty Thule rack you can avoid the hassle and expense of trying to modify it. The adapter will also allow use of other 1-1/4-inch items in your hitch, such as a cargo basket like # 63155. Plus it does not have to remain in the current vehicle; you can use it long into the future.
This adapter comes with a 1/2-inch hitch pin for your installed accessory and you can add a 5/8-inch pin # PC3 to secure it in your hitch.
