How to Attach Observation Camera Ground Wire on Aluminum Trailer

Question:

I am trying to install an observation camera to the back of my horse trailer. The connection from the camera has two wires, one positive/power wire and one negative/ground wire. However there is only a single power wire running through to the clearance lights which are working fine. What do I do with the ground wire coming from the camera? The trailer is aluminum and there is no steel within distance to the camera mount. Thanks.

Expert Reply:

On your aluminum horse trailer, your best option for securing the ground wire on your observation camera is to simply run a length of wiring up to the main ground circuit of the trailer connector. Since you won't get a solid ground connection on the aluminum frame, this will ensure that the camera powers on and functions properly.
