Recommended Tires To Traverse Sand with Triton Trailer

Question:

Hi, I have a two place Triton PWC Trailer LT WC II with tires : ST145/R12E with a 5 bolt pattern. I would like to change out the tires for some sand tires so I can load the PWC from my lake place over the sandy shore. Do you have any tires that might work for such an application? I was thinking I may also need to add another axel with an additional balloon tire to try and carry the weight over the sand. I have some slight eleveation from the water 35-35 degrees, but dont have any rocks or boulders to go over. Thanks

The Kenda S-Trail ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Spoked Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM31202 you asked this question from are great tires for travel on roads and highways.

Trailer tires are built for stiff sidewall and to be run at the max psi which makes crossing sand anything but ideal. The best option is to get a second set of tires with a low load capacity rating like # AM30750 so the sidewall isn't as strong and then let the psi of your tire run as low as possible to move that weight. This is not great for your tires and will absolutely void your warranty, thus the second set as they may prematurely wear under these conditions. Do not use the same tires for road use and always inflate to max psi cold when using on the road.

You may want to consider putting some pieces of wood down to help you load and launch your trailer using regular tires and tire pressure.
