There are 2 different 5th wheel trailer hitches that rise above all of the rest when it comes to the short bed on a 2017 Ford F-350 with the factory prep package. These would be the B&W Companion and the Demco Highjacker.
The Companion # BWRVK3370 is rated for 20K and is considered by most to be the nicest 5th wheel hitch on the market. It uses a dual-jaw system to secure the king pin, is very easy to use, and is made in the USA. One of the best features is that the head is easily removed (by removing some pins) for when you need to take the 5th wheel hitch out of the bed of your truck. The only downside to this option is that is is a manual hitch so when you are taking tight turns you have to get out of your truck to operate it.
The Highjacker comes in an 18K option # DM8550024 as well as a 21K option # DM8550038 and uses a single jaw system for 360 degree contact with the king pin along with a 3/4" thick lock bar for added security. This is also made in the USA and it automatically slides so that you can stay in the cab of your F-350 the whole time you are towing. The downside is that the head can be removed for taking the hitch out of your bed but it is not as easy as the Companion.
Out of both options I think the Highjacker is the better option. The automatic sliding of the hitch is really hard to beat especially since the hitch head is well built as well. I have attached review videos of both 5th wheel hitches so that you can see them in action to help you in your decision.
