Can a Proportional Brake Controller be Used on a 1971 Ford F-250?
Question:
I am wondering if this unit has the inertia components that would be necessary to install it on a vehicle that does not have any computer or electronic braking components. I have a 2016 fifth wheel that has electric brakes and Id like to be able to tow it with my old 1971 F250. I have upgraded all the brakes on the truck to disc and need a way to tow. Ive looked at the Tekonsha P3 and am looking at price as a determining factor as this vehicle needs more components based on its set up and age Your recommendations?

You can absolutely use the a proportional controller with your 1971 Ford F-250 like P3 # 90195, and the fact your '71 F-250 is not computerized will not affect its performance one bit.
As for the rest of the parts, you have those correct as well. The Vehicle Wiring Harness # C59236 is a universal part so you can use that to add a 4-flat to your truck, while Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers # ETBC7 will give you the rest of the wiring to add the controller. Finally, the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector, 7' Lead # 20023 will give you a harness in your truck bed for your fifth wheel.
