Can the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13217 be Used to Carry a 360 lb Bike
Question:
I see this thing is rated for 400 lbs. If I want to have a trailer hitch motorcycle mount hauling a 360 lb bike, how safe would this be and what issues to consider? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
If the weight of the carrier plus the weight of your motorcycle weighs 360 lbs then the 400 lb tongue weight rating of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13217 will be sufficient for your application.
If your bike alone weighs 360 lbs then that might be an issue. All of our motorcycle carriers weigh over 40 lbs so that would cause you to exceed the weight capacity of this trailer hitch. If you could possibly find a carrier that keeps you from exceeding the weight capacity of the trailer hitch then you should be okay on the trailer hitch end but you still want to check the weight capacity of your tow vehicle to make sure that you don't exceed the tongue weight rating there either.
