In order to install the Thule Motion XT Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH629506 on the roof of your 2018 Honda Odyssey you will need crossbars spaced between 23-5/8" - 36-7/8" apart on center. The crossbars also must not exceed 3-1/2" wide x 1-11/16" tall. If you do not already have crossbars on your vehicle or the ones you have cannot be moved to fit the above criteria then I recommend the Malone AirFlow2 - 58" # MPG216. This system has aero shaped crossbars for wind resistance and integrated channels for use with channel mounted accessories.

In order to determine if you have clearance to open the rear hatch with the box installed you will want to move the front crossbar as far forward as allowed and then the rear crossbar between 23-5/8" - 36-7/8" apart on center away from the front bar. As long as the distance from the center of the front crossbar to the rear edge of the roof where it meets the hatch is at least 55" then you will be able to fully open the trunk on your vehicle with the box installed.
