2007 Suzuki SX4 Crossover Hitch Cargo Carrier Recommendation with Curt Hitch

Question:

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me find a solution to my problem. I recently installed a curt hitch on my SX4, plus a 2inch adapter 4inch rise. When I put my Apex aluminum cargo carrier on it sags. With a load on ~100lbs, its only inches from the ground. The car has 110k miles on it. Could it be just worn rear shocks, or is there something else going on there? Can you recommend a fix please? Thanks,

For a Class I hitch like the part # C11443 which is what you'd have installed on your 2007 Suzuki SX4 you are putting quite a bit of leverage on it with a hitch adapter/riser. You most likely are straining the hitch beyond what it can safely handle too which is asking for trouble. The sag you mentioned is a good indicator of that.

Your best option is a cargo carrier that fits the hitch without the use of an adapter like the # C18145. You would also need a stabilizer strap # 18050, this is a requirement of the Curt hitch.
