Troubleshooting Replacement LED Lights on Trailer All Powering On with One Function Activated
Question:
Hi I have recently converted my exterior fifth wheel camper lights to led tail/single,stop and clearance lights . The orginal light is #2057 I put 1157 as its suppose to be same style bulbs . But now when I apply the brake all my clearance lights light up or put my signal light on all the clearance lights flash with the blinker . But if I turn my running lights on everything works like it should. I then changed my tail lights back to the incandescent lights and no more power back feeding to my marker lights .. any suggestions what led bulb I need or what I can do to fix this problem ?

I reached out to my contact at Luma LEDs just to see if he might have any idea as to what might be causing the issue you described when replacing the incandescents on your trailer with new LED bulbs. He stated that since the LEDs will draw much less power than your old incandescent bulbs, the tow vehicle might be seeing the new bulb as being burnt out/not operational and this can cause a variety of issues with the visible functions on the lights. Adding load resistors like # DI34ZR inline with the trailer tail light circuits will add more resistance and should prevent this from happening.
I have attached the installation instructions for the load resistors that you can take a look at.
