What Tire Size Will Replace the 6.50 X 13 Tires on a 1971 Smokey Camper Trailer

Question:

I just acquired a 1971 Smokey camper trailer. The tires on there say 650 x 13. Can you help me?

The 6.50 x 13 tire size is the old numeric sizing used in the 1970s. It means the tire is 6-1/2 inches wide and the height of the tire calculates to 23.4 inches.

The closest tire size I have to the 6.50 x 13 tire will be the 175/80-13 size. It is 6.9 inches wide and 24.1 inches tall. You will need to check if you have enough space on your camper for a 1/2 inch wider and 3/4 inch taller tire. The tire will fit on a 4-1/2 inch to 5-1/2 inch wide wheel.

You will want to see what the total weight capacity is for your 1971 Smokey camper, including cargo and make sure the tire you choose will have more than enough maximum load capacity for that camper.

I am including a link to a page that will list all of the tires I have available in the 175/80-13 tire size. Also, I am including a few links to FAQ pages on interesting information regarding trailer tires.
