Left Side Trailer Lights Not Working with Tow Ready Wiring Harness for a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Question:

I bought a hitch and wiring harness from you a while backat least a year ago and now my left turn and left brake lights dont work. Ive checked the fuse on the harness and Ive replaced the female plug b/c it looked rusty and I thought possibly not making a good connection.....Ive also pulled all the plugs apart and put them back together and nothing seems to work. Ive also tried hooking the car up to 3 trailers and they all have the same left side problem. Suggestions?

The fact that it is on the left side only and happens on all the trailers you have tried indicates that there is an issue on the vehicle side wiring and possibly inside the converter box itself. To test it, have someone sit in the vehicle to run through the various functions (turn signals, running lights, and brake lights) while you test the wiring with a circuit tester, # PTW2993.

Start by testing the wiring going into the converter from the vehicle. If you do not get the correct signal going in then it could be a problem with the vehicle wiring, or even a bad ground connection. If the signals are correct going into the box, check the signals for the wires coming out of the box.

If the functions are not correct coming out of the box then there is something work inside the converter and the wiring harness will need to be replaced. If the signals are correct coming out, check them again at each pin on the 4-Way until you locate the problem area.

Any dirt and corrosion will need to be cleaned out as this can also cause lights to malfunction. Any nicks or breaks in the wiring could also cause the error. It would be worthwhile to check the connections at the tail lights as well and clean out any dirt and corrosion that may be in them.

Using dielectric grease like # 11755, will help to keep out moisture and corrosion between electrical connections. I ave included a link to a video that, in part, shows the use of dielectric grease.
