I checked with Thule and their solution for carrying a Thule kayak carrier on the factory crossbars of your 2013 Mercedes GL 450 is to install a set of their crossbars as well with the Thule Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, bars # TH712300, and locks # TH450400 since the factory bars of your vehicle are not compatible.
Then you can use a carrier like the assisted Thule Hullavator # TH898.
