Can Cigarette Lighter be Used to Power T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness on 2004 VW Touareg?
Question:
I have a 2004 Touareg. I ordered and installed the trailer wiring T connection. I see in one of the reviews that one person said to use a cigarette lighter plug to power it, so I did. My question is does the control module need constant power to control my Touareg brake lights and blinkers? Or does it only need power when the trailer plug is in use to control trailer lights? Thank you.

You should not use the cigarette lighter to power the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118509 on your 2004 VW Touareg, you need to run a hot lead directly to your vehicle's battery.
This harness has a ModuLite which needs to connect to your VW's battery and is designed to prevent overloading your vehicle's electrical system, which would be vulnerable if you keep your vehicle wired as is.
