Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 2006 Forest River Wildwood LE 25RKS
Question:
I am looking for a bolt on weight distribution hitch. I have a 2006 Wildwood 25rks hooked up to a 1998 F150. Listed tongue weight is 485 pounds. Loaded I am over 600. Can I use the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System or should I purchase the fastway e2 though a thin will socket looks necessary for install.

Expert Reply:
The Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System and the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System are both good options for you. However, they do not have the best means of controlling trailer sway in comparison to the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. This system has four point sway control whereas the Reese and Fastway systems only have two point sway control. This system will do a much better job of maintaining trailer sway than the above two options. It also comes with a hitch ball so no additional purchase is necessary. Instead of purchasing the socket part # EQ70-00-4800, you could just take the head and hitch ball to a local mechanic as I would be surprised if you were even charged for them to torque it down for you.
In order to select the correct system you will need to add the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer by any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. This is referred to as total tongue weight (TTW) and as long as this does not exceed 1,000 lbs, I recommend using part # EQ37100ET. I have attached a review/install video of this system for you as well.
If you do not want the added sway control features of the Equal-i-zer, the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System part # RP66559 or the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System part # FA94-00-0800 would more than likely be correct for you.
