Ball Mount Recommendation for 2005 Volvo V50 with Curt Trailer Hitch Installed
Question:
I recently purchased a Curt Euro style hitch Item #45561 for my 2005 Volvo V50i. The ball is so close to the bumper of my car about 1” of clearance that I am sure the tongue of my trailer will damage my car. Is there an extension of some kind that would increase the shank length of this particular hitch? If not, is there a 1 1/4” hitch with a longer shank that would solve this problem? Thanks for your help.

For the Curt hitch part # C11438 that you have installed on your 2005 Volvo V50i has a recommended ball mount, part # C45522. This is a couple inches longer than the # C45561 you currently have so it would give you the clearance you'd need.
For a 2 inch hitch ball you'd want the part # C40018 or for a 1-7/8 inch ball part # C40001.
