Converting 7 inch Diameter Hydraulic Drum Brakes to Electric on Trailer

Question:

I am converting from surge to electric brakes. I have dual 2k axles with 4 lug 4 inch spacing with 7 inch drums. My pop-up camper max load is 3300 pounds so I am assuming brakes on one axle only.yes? If so I need drums and elecrtic brake assemblies for one axle. Thanks

For tandem trailer axle setups it's not uncommon to only see one axle as a brake axle. Since you already have 7 inch Dexter drums it would be just a matter of replacing the hydraulic assemblies with electric assemblies. For that we have the 2k brake assembly set part # AKEBRK-2 which would fit what you have and work well.

It would be just a matter of running 10 gauge wire to each assembly to power and ground them. For that we have part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot.

I also attached a couple help articles below that cover adding electric brakes to a trailer that you'll find informative as well.
