How to Transfer the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller to a 2017 Ford Escape
Question:
I have a Tekonsha P3 in our Ford Transit T350 and I would like to hook up the same wiring harness in my 2017 Ford Escape so that I can use the P3 in it when pulling our pop-up camper. However, it looks like there isnt a Tekonsha-compatible wiring harness for the Escape according to your website. Am I missing something, or does it really not exist? The Escape has the factory-installed tow package, btw, but its only a 4-pin. I would rather use the 7-pin connector so I have the trailer brakes working back there. I do NOT want to tow 2500 lbs of pop-up through the Rockies and attempt to slow it down with just the Escapes brakes. Thanks.

I do have a way for you to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 on your 2017 Ford Escape that will still allow you to easily transfer it between vehicles but unfortunately a plug-in harness is not available for the Escape. Instead, you would need to wire the Brake Control Harness part # 20127 into the vehicle's wiring harness and then install a 4 to 7-way trailer adapter like the 7-Way Brake Controller Kit part # ETBC7.
The only other thing you will need is a mounting bracket for the P3 when used in your Escape and for this you will want part # TK5906. If you need help with installation you can take a look at the attached video on a similar model.
