Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2006 Honda Element

Question:

Hi - I recently purchased a used 2006 Honda Element that appears to have a system wired together for trailer lights hiding underneath the rear cargo area. If you take a look at the photo Ive provided - you can see what the connector looks like. I assume that there must be a wiring harness that plugs into this connector which terminates in a 4-way flat SAE end that mates with the SAE harness on the trailer. If this is correct - what harness do I need to make this connection?

That very well could be a connector for trailer lights that you have found on your 2006 Honda Element. However, none of the available wiring harnesses for your Element plug into that connector. They are all hardwire options that require splicing into the vehicle tail light wires.

But what you can do is use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one to test the pins or the wires of that connector you found while someone sits in the vehicle to operate the lighting functions. If it has power during this test (running lights, brake lights and turn signals on the same circuits) then you could just hardwire in a trailer wiring harness, such as # HM48925, directly to it rather than tapping into the taillight wiring.
