Installing Brake Controller on 2011 Chevy Silverado with Factory Wires Under Dash
Question:
Hi. Hope you can help me. I am installing a Tekonsha 9030C Electric brake controller on my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. I found the wire bundle under my dash. It has an orange wire that I will not use. A blue, red with a black tracer, a yellow and a light blue with a yellow tracer. All the videos I have watched say that there is a white not yellow , a light blue with white tracer, not yellow and a red and blue. My question to you is....is the yellow the white and the light blue with yellow tracer the light blue? I hope this makes sense.

The wiring you found beneath the dash of your 2011 Chevy Silverado does seem to be the factory wiring you will use to install a trailer brake controller, such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. Most likely, the connections you mentioned are correct (the yellow is the ground wire and the light blue with yellow tracer is the input from the brake switch). With that being said, since the wire colors are a bit off from what is typically used on your model year Silverado, I highly recommend testing them for function with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to verify you make the right connections. Vehicle manufacturers tend to change up the color wire they use at the factory from time to time, so relying on color alone isn't always the safest method.
There might also be some additional connections you need to make under the hood to make sure everything is fully functional. I have attached an article that details this very process that you can refer to.
