Trailers Right Blinker Light Causes Both Lights to Blink
Question:
I recently purchased a 7x14foot dump trailer with its own 12v battery to operate the dump function and trailer brakes. The 7 pin plug was ripped off of the trailer wires when I bought it but they gave me the plug to reinstall it. I looked at numerous wiring diagrams and believe I have it wired back correctly with the yellow and green wires at 3 and 6 oclock relative to looking at the plug and the running light wire going to a different post as well as the brakes, ground, and accessory post that I assume will take power from my truck to charge the trailer battery when it is hooked up? Anyway my running lights work fine along with my left blinker only left side flashes as it is supposed to. But when I turn on my right blinker, I get a flash from both the left and right side of the trailer. I have triple checked the wiring and ground the paint/rust off of the trailer ground and that has not fixed the issue. The lights must be grounded to the trailer via the mounting bolts because there are only 2 wires coming out of each turn signal light 1 blinker wire and 1 running light wire so i removed the paint around that area as well for a better ground. Any ideas?

Checking the grounds first was the right thing to do since what you're experiencing is generally a ground issue. Since you've already done that you might replace the mounting hardwarwe for that light to see if the issue is still a ground. Also, do the same work on the main trailer ground if you haven't already.
Have you towed a different trailer with the same truck or tested the connector at the truck? If not you should just to make sure the problem is on the trailer side. Make sure that the pins of both the truck and trailer side connectors are clean of any debris or corrosion. Also, check the truck's ground wire.
Since the connector was ripped off it could be damaged internally. Unfortunately, there's not really a good way to test this other than to replace it with another like # HS381-9000.
The right side turn signal and brake light should be connected at the 9 O'clock position. I also don't recommend wiring by color because it's often not reliable. Instead you should wire by function. I'm not sure which pin you mean by the 6 O'clock but when looking at the connector they should be:
1 O'clock - Tail lights
3 O'clock - Left turn and stop
5 O'clock - Ground
7 O'clock - Electric trailer brakes
9 O'clock - Right turn and stop
11 O'clock - 12 volt power accessory
Center - Reverse lights
And to answer your question about charging the battery. The 12 volt pin in the 11 O'clock position wil provide a maintenance charge to the battery but it won't charge it when it's completely dead.
