Will Adding Higher Rated Trailer Hitch Increase Vehicle's Towing Capacity

Question:

HI. My 2015 MKC has the factory towing package and the rating on that is only 3000 LBS. If I changed to this hitch, would I gain 500 LBS capacity? Also, would the factory transmission cooling and brake packages work okay with this hitch? Thanks,

The Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75943 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2015 Lincoln MKC and will fit without issue on your model that has the towing package.

Although this hitch does have a 3,500 pound towing capacity, you will still need to follow the limits of the vehicle itself if it is lower. This is essentially because the existing hitch on your MKC is likely not the defining factor when it comes to setting the towing capacity of the vehicle. Other components, such as the engine, factory cooler, drivetrain, etc, all factor into its overall capacity. Anytime you add an aftermarket product like a trailer hitch, you will still always need to follow the vehicle's limits as listed in the owner's manual, even if the added part features a higher capacity.

I have attached an installation video for the Draw-Tite on the 2016 Lincoln MKC that you can use for reference if you still decide to replace your existing hitch.
