How to Carry Two Kayaks and Pull a Trailer with a 2012 Ford F-150 Lariat

Question:

I have a 2014 F-150 lariat and I’m pulling a small travel trailer Rpod I’m looking for ways to take two Kayaks with me. I’m currently using a load leveling hitch it’s not necessary but it’s nice. I could tow with a standard ball hitch. Thanks

The only feasible way to carry two kayaks on your 2012 Ford F-150 while towing a R-Pod travel trailer would be to place them on the roof of your truck. In order to do this you are going to need a roof rack and roof top mounted kayak carriers. For a roof rack, I recommend taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbar System which is composed of part # RRVA150B-2, part # RRRLKVA, and part # DK150.

This system has aero shaped crossbars for reduced wind noise and drag. It also has channels for use with channel mounted accessories in addition to containing locks for security. Then in order to haul the kayaks I recommend using two sets of the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier part # S510. This carrier has padded uprights to protect the kayaks and comes with everything you need to secure them to the roof rack.

I have attached a review video of both systems for you as well. Please make sure to check your owner's manual for the vehicle's roof capacity beforehand.
