Economical Option for Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch on 2011 Ford F-250 With Factory Rail Kit
Question:
Im about to start towing with the 2011 F250 6.7 and its rated at 16k so I am about to get a 16k Fifth wheel hitch. It is the King Ranch 6 foot bed with tow package so I would like to get a slider hitch to take advantage of the fifth wheel capabilities. Is there a compatible hitch in the 500.00 range? I am assuming that I will not need the rails installed in the bed with the trucks standard towing package. Thanks

The only way you would not need mounting brackets and base rails in your 2011 Ford F-250 is if you had the factory rails in your truck. You would know this because your truck bed would have 4 pucks, or small holes, where the fifth wheel hitch mounts.
If you do have that system, the most economical option for a sliding fifth wheel hitch is the Reese # RP30051, a 16,000 lb hitch that you would need Rail Adapter # RP30156 to mount.
Should you look in your truck bed and find you do not have that puck system you will need to add brackets and base rails. The most economical option would again be Reese # RP30051 for a sliding fifth wheel hitch and Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035 for mounting brackets and base rails.
