Winch Recommendation for Ceiling Hoist with Automatic Brake

Question:

What model winchs can lift 2000-3000#s to a point then reverse to slowly lower the load to the ground again? This below describes my basic use of the winch I need... When using this winch to lift the weight/item, once to full lift height I would anchor the item at the specified height with a safety chain, so the tension on the lift cable could be eased off. Then to reverse the action I would reconnect the lift line and power in to release the safety chain then slowly power out the line to lower the weight/item back to the ground....

For that application you will want a worm gear winch like the Dutton Lainson Ceiling Mount part # DL10954 this is the best and safest winch we offer that you can use as a ceiling hoist that automatically applies a "brake" when you stop cranking the winch.
