Will Bulldog A-Frame Jack # BD1550101344 Fit 2,000-Lb Boat and Trailer and Be Corrosion-Resistant
Question:
I want to replace my Fulton A-frame 2000 lb. jack on my custom Triad boat trailer used in salt water launches. My boats displacement is 2000 lbs. Is this an appropriate jack? What wheel should I use ... most are rated for less than 2000 lbs. I want as much corrosion resistance as possible and want to be able to mount a foot on the jack when boat is stored. THANKS!

The Bulldog Round Sidewind A-Frame Jack, part # BD1550101344, has a lift capacity of 3,000 lbs and will work fine on your 2,000-lb boat and trailer for lift capacity. The lift capacity means this jack is able to lift and support up to 3,000 lbs.
An A-frame jack like the Bulldog is mounted on the tongue of the trailer so it is rated to lift the tongue weight of the boat and trailer. If you have a 2,000-lb boat and trailer, the tongue weight range would be 10 to 15 percent or 200 to 300 lbs, so this jack would have enough capacity for your application. To get the exact tongue weight, you will need to weigh the tongue weight of your trailer with the boat and trailer loaded.
This jack has a 13 inch lift, so you will want to make sure the amount of lift will match, or be greater than the jack that you are removing from your trailer.
The wheel I would recommend is the Pro Series 6 Inch Detachable Caster, part # PS1400750340. The capacity on this wheel is 1,200 lbs, which again is the tongue weight capacity so you should be fine using this wheel on the Bulldog jack.
The foot I would recommend is the Pro Series Detachable Footplate, part # PS1400700340. The foot has a maximum weight capacity of 5,000 lbs.
All of these parts have a corrosion-resistant finish to help protect them from the salt water.
