I have a Westin sportsman that was on a 2004 Sierra, and wanted to put in it on my 1998 Silverado?

The Westin Sportsman Grille Guard # 40-0085 is the correct fit for your 1998 Chevy Silverado. The # 40-1265 for your 2004 GMC Sierra is not a fit. They are not interchangeable, so you would need to replace the entire grille not just the mounting brackets.
