5,200 lb Trailer Brake Assembly Recommendations

Question:

Hi, I am needing to put trailer brakes on a used trailer I bought. The trailer says that the axles have a 5200 pound capacity. My question is, can I use electric breaks with the same measurements that are rated for a 6000-7000 pound axle capacity? Thanks!

Going with a brake setup that's rated for higher than what the axle capacity is designed for isn't ideal as it basically just makes it harder to adjust the brakes properly. They brakes themselves won't necessarily be any stronger but when you are fine tuning the adjustment of them it will feel like you either have too much braking or not enough instead of easily being able to find the correct tightness.

That said, we have the 5,200 brake assemblies part # AKEBRK-7L-SA for the left side and part # AKEBRK-7R-SA for the right side that are also rated for up to 7,000 lb trailer axles so this would be a great solution. These are self adjusting assemblies as well.
