Boat Trailer Tire Recommendation for Longer Distance Travel

Question:

I have a 4 bolt pattern on a boat trailer. I am hauling it a distance. I really want a bigger wider standard trailer tire for the journey. Some options without changing the axles

For traveling a distance you want to use radial tires, which are going to flex more than a bias tire and give you better traction and tread wear.

You said you wanted a larger tire but also mentioned your bolt pattern, so I assume you want to replace both your wheels and tires; the 4-bolt pattern I assume is a 4 on 4" pattern, though if you are unsure please follow the link I've added to a help article detailing how to find your wheel's bolt pattern.

The wheel I recommend taking a look at is the Galvanized Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20224, which has a 4 on 4" bolt pattern and is 13" in diameter x 4-1/2" wide; the 13" is the largest available for that bolt pattern. The tire you should check out is the Kenda # AM10210, which is a ST175/80R13 tire with a 24.1" diameter and 7" width. This tire has a load rating of D with a maximum capacity of 1,610 lbs at 65 psi.

In order to get the best performance out of your tires, be sure to always keep it inflated to the max psi, which also maintains its load capacity and gives you the best traction.
