Is there an easy way to side mount this to the square tube part of a trailer? The front area Between the main trailer and the coupler similar to how spare tires are often mounted. What would you recommend?

The Deka Battery Box # DW03188, which is for Group U1 batteries, is designed to be mounted with a surface under it, as the mounting hardware is used to put a strap through it and hold the box that way. You would need to fabricate your own surface in the space you showed in your photo and mount it to that surface with the provided hardware.
I've attached a link to an installation video for you to check out that shows how this box was designed to be mounted.
