Solution for Trickle Charging Towed Vehicle Battery

Question:

I have an Invisibrake which was installed by Camping World in New York. It reportedly is supposed to trickle charge the battery when the headlights of the RV are on. Our coach is has an engine brake. Whenever the engine brake is activated, the brakes in the towed vehicle are activated. The problem is after two hours of towing, the battery in the towed vehicle is dead. Why?

The issue is that supplemental braking systems do require a decent amount of amperage to apply the tow vehicle's brakes. If you have a trickle charger setup already and the battery is still dying after 2 hours that typically would mean that the trickle charger isn't working properly or the tow vehicle just has a weak battery.

Sometimes people will just run a length of 10 gauge wire from the 12 volt accessory pin to the positive post of the battery like with part # 10-1-1 and that will supply a decent charge for the battery.
