Will the Thule Force XT XXL Allow the Rear Hatch to Open on a 2017 Subaru Forester  

Question:

We are looking for the largest possible cargo box that would fit a 2017 Subaru Forester. Would the Thule XT allow the rear hatch to open? Also, what roof rails would we need we have the side rails but need the cross bars.

The Thule Force XT # TH6359B will fit your 2009 Subaru Forester and allow you to still fully open your rear hatch because we have installed longer cargo boxes and they fit (see attached video of discontinued Force XXL).

I recommend going with a Thule roof rack so that you can use the same keys for both the roof rack and your cargo box.

Of the roof rack options available from Thule the AeroBlade style is the way to go. The aerodynamic design cuts down on wind noise and drag compared to other more traditional crossbars. For an OEM look use either part # TH7502B-TH7502B for Black or part # TH7502-TH7502 for Silver. To use the complete crossbar for other accessories you want to go with the 47" WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711220 Black or # TH711200 Silver, along with the Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401.

To add locks that are all keyed the same to this setup you also need the One-Key System # TH450600 as well.
