How to Wire the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad To an On/Off Switch

Question:

I would like to know how to wire the switch to the camper and the thermaheat rv holding tank heater pad. Is there instructions with switch ? is the light side of the switch for the line from the camper ? If I use 3 pads will I need three switches ? Would it be better to just use electric wire to wire pads to wall plugs ? Thank You,

There are two wires coming from the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad part # 277-000164. There is a red wire for the 12 volt power and a white wire for the ground. This heating pad draw's 4.8 amps of power. Therefore, if you will be attaching three of these to a single switch then the switch will need to be rated for 14.1 amps (4.8 x 3).

For a switch, I recommend using the Universal-Design Rocker Switch part # PK34360 which is rated at 20 amps and will be sufficient for three of the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pads. This switch has three terminals. There is one terminal for the 12 volt power which will need to be ran to the battery, one terminal for the ground which will need to be grounded to a clean metal surface, and one terminal that will be used for the power wire on the heating pads.

I have attached a wiring diagram I made on how to wire the heating pad and switch for you.
