Roof Rack and Kayak Carriers for 2006 Scion xB
Question:
I need a roof rack system for two kayaks on a 2006 Scion xb. I also need a set of the trailer mounted racks that would accommodate two or more kayaks that would bolt to an existing trailer. I have cross members on the trailer but I dont want to put the kayaks directly onto the crossmembers. Thank you.

We can help you with a roof rack for your 2006 Scion xB to allow you to transport your two kayaks. On the linked page you can see all roof rack options for your xB with a bare roof. Please note that these various roof rack systems have differing weight capacities; you will want to be sure to choose one that can handle the combined weight of your two boats plus the chosen kayak carriers you mount on the roof rack.
The lowest-cost roof rack with the maximum 165-lb weight capacity is the Yakima Baseline round bar system made of parts # Y00409, # Y28TR, # Y03536 and # Y06163. This round bar rack will work with any kayak carrier and you can see a sample installation in the linked video.
For a solid side-loading J-style kayak carrier that won't break the bank I suggest the Rhino-Rack # S510 which includes tow-downs. You will need two of these. Each can mount facing away from the car for easier loading.
As for the trailer, if you can send me a photo or two so I know a bit about its design that will help me offer a suitable recommendation.
