Hitch-Mount Cargo Carrier for Use in Pivoting Hitch Assembly on Sprinter Motorhome
Question:
Hello - I am interested in buying the 24x60 Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs - e98874 I have some questions: - How far out from the back of the vehicle does it extend? - We want to place a it on a RAKATTACH swing away hitch on a 2017 Sprinter 2500 Van. Will this work? Thank you.

On the back of your Sprinter-based motorhome you can use a fixed (non-folding) 2-inch hitch-mounted carrier such as the Curt # C18145 but we do not recommend a folding type carrier since their folding/hinge mechanisms introduce a point of weakness. A fixed carrier will be more stable in your application and this is what I recommend. All such fixed cargo carriers are displayed on the page I linked for you. Carrier # C18145 measures about 28-inches from the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the carrier.
As you use your set-up please keep weight capacities in mind. Your hitch has a specific tongue weight (TW) rating, which is downward force on it. If this were to be 500-lbs, for example, you will need to deduct the weight of your pivoting assembly and the weight of the cargo carrier you select
to know how much weight capacity remains for your actual cargo.
You may also care to consider a cargo net such as # C18200.
