How to Use a Weight Distribution System on a Horse Trailer with an L-Shaped Frame

Question:

Im trying to install a weight distribution system on my truck and horse trailer. The A-frame is enclosed and on looking under the actual steel frame of the trailer is L-shaped not square. It is enclosed on top with wood. Would bolt on chain hangers work? I dont think the lift brackets will work that came with the system. Thanks

A bolt-on chain hanger would indeed be the best option you have to install a weight distribution system on your horse trailer with an "L-Shaped" frame. However, you would need to weld a steel plate to the outside of the frame where the bracket will sit in order for this option to work.

In order to make sure you are choosing the best weight distribution system, you will need to calculate the total tongue weight (TTW) which is composed of both the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer by any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

Once you can let know your TTW then I would be glad to offer my recommendation for a weight distribution system. If not, the system you choose would need to use chain style spring bars and you would also need to substitute the traditional lift brackets for either part # RP58305 or part # C17005.
