How to Add Automatic Hub Lubrication to a Trailer Without E-Z Lube Spindles

Question:

I have a clog in one side of my axle on a trail star trailer. This has happened more than one and quite frankly I’m tired of dealing with it. Is there a way to add a hub with a grease fitting such as the superlube model? It is a 5 bolt hub and I believe the trailer is a 2003. Any help would be appreciated!!

You can simplify the lubrication of your trailer's hubs in a couple of ways.

Once way is to add Bearing Buddy grease caps like # BB1980A-SS that have a grease zerk fitting and internal grease reservoir. These use spring pressure to keep grease flowing into the hubs at all times. Using these does NOT require changing out your axle's spindles to the E-Z Lube type.

All Bearing Buddy grease caps are shown on the linked page; these are made in various sizes for both threaded and non-threaded hubs. You will need to accurately measure your hub's inner bore in order to select the correct Bearing Buddy, and also note whether or not your hubs are threaded.

The measurement must be very precise, to the nearest thousandth of an inch, such as 1.234-inches. A precision digital caliper such as # PTW80157 is needed to measure the hub bore.
