Parts Needed to Bypass TIPM in 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 for Trailer Wiring

Question:

is there a tipm bypass for this truck? it does have factory tow package with a round 7 pin plug and 4 pin flat connector. trailer works with other truck. check continuity it is good

The trailer wiring circuits on the newer Dodge trucks have some interesting issues. The issue is the TIPM like you mentioned. If it detects enough shorts it will eventually lock up and require you to spend quite a bit of money. It basically is a big circuit board. The easiest way to deal with them is to bypass the factory trailer wiring. To do this with a 7-way like you said you have on your truck you will first need to start with a 4-way.

For that you'd want to use the install harness # 119250KIT. Then to convert it to a 7-way you'll want the # 37185.

If you do have trailer brakes and need the 7-way to activate them as well you instead would want the part # ETBC7. I attached an FAQ on this part plus an install video.
