Add Battery/12V System To Existing 120V System In Pop Up Trailer
Question:
I need help adding a battery system to my camper. At present it has the 120v system and we always camp at places that have shore power but I’d like the added convenience of having a 12v system. I’d also like to install a water pump and it seems like I need a battery in order to run one. Any help you can provide I’d appreciate.

For the application that you are attempting, you will need to install a battery and wire the trailer to run off that battery instead of running off the shore power at a campsite. If all of your trailer lights and appliances run off of 120V then the 12 volt battery is not going to power them. you will need to add 12 volt accessories and lights to the trailer. If the trailer currently uses a converter from the shore power and the accessories and lighting run on 12 volts then you can run them off the battery.
I recommend that you install the battery to run the water pump # P25201, and an inverter # WC3720 so it will run a few of your appliances when needed. If there are anymore appliances to plug in you may be better off using a generator # 289-SUA2000I.
